One of the most important volunteer activity at our school is making sure our kids and families are safe. We need more volunteer Crossing Guards to keep pedestrians safe as they cross 4th & Boston getting to and from school! We have a few stalwarts on Safety Patrol but everyone gets sick on occasion and one guard is really not enough to remind drivers that it's an "all-ways" stop whenever kids are in the intersection.

Remember, you don't need to have attended Volunteer Training in order to be on the Safety Patrol! A valid background check is all that's required.

Also, if you have hesitated to sign up because you have younger children who need to be cared for, hesitate no more! There is a volunteer job called "Patrol Playground/Library Parent" for each Safety Patrol shift. Feel confident leaving your "littles" with this Patrol Parent while you stand guard on the street. OR If you prefer the fun of the playground or the warmth and relative quiet of the library, (and you have attended Volunteer Training with the Positive Discipline introduction), please sign up to watch "littles" for other Safety Patrol volunteers.

Please check out our VolunteerSpot calendar to see if there are ANY Safety Patrol Monitors shifts you can cover...even once a month helps! Consider signing up on the days you drive your child(ren) to school for or pick them up from activities. (That even builds in some "you" time.) Or if your 4th or 5th grader is on Patrol, join him/her. Make it a special routine: stop at your favorite coffee shop together, then head to school for patrol duty together...whatever works.

Thank you for every little thing you do for our school!

Just a heads up:  There will be a Seattle Schools furlough/early dismissal day on Feb. 14.  School will end at 12:35pm.  Mark your calendar!

We need hand-me-downs in various sizes to help our kids when there is a spill or potty miss, primarily sizes 5 - 8.  The best kind have elastic waistbands but we will work with whatever someone has available. Both genders would be wonderful.  Please bring your donation to the school office, thanks!

While establishing body awareness, muscle development, flexibility, coordination and basic locomotor skills, this class expands each child’s inner creativity. Exploration of space, shapes, pathways, rhythms, and movement qualities will also help your child to develop problem solving skills. We will introduce the basic Ballet positions, some preparatory steps and sequencing with special attention to posture, core strength and clean technique. We’ll also focus on musicality, phrasing, terminology, and Ballet etiquette while gaining strength and flexibility in all muscle groups – all this, wrapped in fun themes that the children will love. The warm and friendly atmosphere will foster camaraderie, cooperation, encouragement and a positive self image. Leggings and a T-shirt recommended for girls; sweats and T-shirt recommended for boys. But any loose comfortable clothes or dance attire will be acceptable.
